I am the face behind Spark Cleaning Services, I first started my business back in 2009 when my children were 3 and 4. I’d recently just split from my partner and needed to earn extra cash to keep on my feet. I was working as a business manager in catering but I had to leave due to the long shifts and childcare costs that no longer suited my single family life.
I have always had a passion for cleaning since a young age, in catering a lot of cleaning was involved for example the huge canopies above the grill were always my favourite thing to clean as the results were insane. My first few cleaning shifts were for private houses I had come across on Gumtree, I did this in between the time of the nursery drop off and pick up.
Eventually my cleaning business started to take off and I was getting busier. It was very hard at first, the days were very long and tiring and I decided to hire another individual to help me with the cleans. I started to make a name for myself 2 -3 years into the cleaning business and everything progressed from there. I stopped cleaning 5 years ago and now permanently work in my office, I do miss cleaning but I got so busy and there was so much more to do behind the scenes once my business started to take off I currently work 6 days out of the week.
I now have cleaners that work for me and I consider myself very lucky as hired staff have stayed with me a long time. I still have a few of my first ever clients that I had when I was cleaning myself that became regular over the years. My business has been rated in the top 3 cleaning companies in Leeds since 2017 and we continue to get bigger and better every year reaching new milestones.
